Casting a Candle Spell
Share
Candle spells are simple, versatile, and powerful; A method used by witches all over the world rooted in tradition and history. They use the properties associated with herbs, the correspondences carried by the colors of the candles, as well as the transformative and powerful energies of the element of fire to manifest your intentions and amplify your spell. Despite their versatility, they are actually simple to perform and our Bewitched Box Spell Kits come with everything you need for your spell!
What you’ll need:
- Bewitched Box spell supplies
- A plate or tray
- Oil (example: vegetable oil, olive oil, or spell oil)
- Carving tool (example: the back of our magical spoons, or a butter knife, stick, etc.)
- Small piece of paper and pen
As you gather your supplies, begin to really visualize your intentions for your spell. You can also take this time to prepare any additional items you would like to add to your spell like sigils, items related to your type of spell (example: coins for a money spell, a small mirror for a self-love spell, etc.) or even crystals you have laying around that carry the same energies you are invoking with your spell.
Instructions:
- Cleanse the space using the incense included in your box. Light the incense and wave it around the area you will be casting your spell, you can also use the smoke from the incense to cleanse individual elements like your spell candle, and your plate or tray.
- Think about the properties listed for each herb and the type of spell you are casting, compare this with your intentions for this spell and your goals, then sprinkle each herb onto your plate or tray while saying the name of the herb and its intention/purpose in the spell. (example: I am adding rosemary for purification and protection)
- Write down your intention for your spell on your piece of paper and set aside. You can also draw any sigils you have created for the spell on the piece of paper.
- Using your carving tool, carve grooves in any shapes, sigils, or swirls into the candle. You can even carve words that represent your intentions if that is your preference.
- Using your oil, put a small amount on the tip of your fingers or a paper towel and cover the candle. This will help the herbs adhere in the next step.
- Roll the candle over the herbs on the tray to get them into the grooves of your candle. You don't need much on your candle; but visualize the energy and properties of the herbs merging with and infusing into the candle.
- Place the paper with your spell intentions on your plate or tray. You can choose to burn this using the flame from your candle later but that is entirely optional.
- Make space in the center of the plate or tray for the candle by pushing the herbs away leaving an empty small circle. Light your candle, then drop some candle wax onto the center of your plate or tray where you made space, before the wax dries, attach the candle to your plate or tray by placing the bottom of the candle on the wax and holding it until it hardens.
- Allow the spell candle to burn down all the way and you are done!
After you are done, there are multiple ways to handle the remnants of your spell. Depending on the purpose of your spell you may want to keep the remnants or dispose of them. For protection spells, it is good to keep them near; you can do so by burying the remnants somewhere on your property to protect your home or placing the remnants in the mesh bag included in your spell kit and placing them somewhere safe, you can also transfer them into a spell jar. Other spells you may want to keep close by are manifestation spells, abundance spells, and love spells. Spells that require a release of sorts like banishing spells will need to be disposed of; the best ways to dispose of them are by throwing them away in the trash and immediately removing the trash bag from the inside of your home, or even flushing them down the toilet (make sure materials are safe to be flushed). Another way to handle the remnants of your spell is to release them into water; this is great for healing spells, for letting go, for growth, and for self-love. You can also choose to burn the remnants of any spell type outdoors in a fire proof container, then safely discard the ashes in a flowing body of water or by burying them.
May your intentions bloom beautifully
